We proudly announce that Sheriff's Office Commander Nancy Blanco has joined our board of directors as the law enforcement liaison chairperson. Nancy is currently in her 25th year of public service as a law enforcement officer, and has roots in volunteer community service, having served as a citizen volunteer with the department.
In partnership with a soon-to-be-announced major Southern California University, our foundation (SDRPOF) is working with State regulators (P.O.S.T) to create a law enforcement academy in San Diego County to train reserves to serve in area agencies. We are currently in the budgeting phase, and look forward to continuing the conversation with stakeholders. We will issue a press release when our partnership is fully approved.
We are honored to announce that on July 12, 2024, the San Diego County Chiefs' and Sheriff's Association extended full support to our initiative. The association, which is composed of all local area agency executives, recognizes the need for an expanded force of reserve peace officers to . In that light, area agencies unit with us to build a P.O.S.T. certified academy tailored to the professional reserve candidate. Click here to view our letter of support.
On June 5th, the SDRPOF Board of Directors was honored to share our vision with the San Diego County Chiefs' and Sheriff's Association. Speaking before what is easily 1000 years of combined law enforcement service to our county, SD-RPOF shared a vision of creating a sustainable multi-agency reserve academy that will serve San Diego County for years to come.
